November is going to be a crazy fast month! So many things happening. No school on the 6th because of voting. No school on the 12th because of Veterans Day. Field trip to the Warner Indian Museum on the 20th (more info to come). Early release on the 21st. No school on the 22nd or 23rd. Wow! We will be immersed in learning about Native Americans this month and making a glogster, a virtual poster. There also will be lots of practices to get ready for our play on December 13th! There will be an open house at 6:00 and performance at 6:30.
Thank you to all who helped out with Michaelmas. The kids loved it and most exclaimed this was the best day ever! We raised about $4000! This will help with field trips, a free book at the book fair for each 3rd grader, the needy, and other events that come up.
Wednesday is Halloween! The parade starts at 1:00 and the party will be directly following. Parents are welcome to come help get students ready for the parade around 12:40 and can stay for the party after. We have lots of yummy snacks to enjoy and we'll be playing a Halloween related game.
Please send your child's costume with them to school. We won't be getting ready until after lunch. Remember no blood or weapons allowed.
Michaelmas is this month believe it or not! It's scheduled for October 19th! 3rd graders need to make at least 24 items (craft) to sell. Some ideas are ornaments, holiday decorations, Halloween decorations, mini-pillows, doll blankets, jewelry, crafts with candy etc. The kids seem to have a good idea of what they're making. You can google kids crafts or craft fair items and you'll get oodles of ideas. We've talked about it in class so kids know what's expected. You can also make a baked good to go with the craft.
Please plan on sending in the craft on the Wednesday before so we may price the items and do a little show and share around the school.
Also, think about how to display the craft to make it attractive, like pretty tablecloth, display board, Christmas tree, etc.
We will be having our feast after the selling. I think we've got most items except for gingerbread. If anyone's interested, please let me know.
Parents are welcome to come help out any time during the day.
Welcome to the Reading Ravens website! We made it through our first full week of third grade! We are working hard learning new routines, rules, and building our stamina. We are also practicing our growth-mindset and the magical word :YET! We are learning to persevere when we're stuck and to keep trying and not to give up. Just because we can't do it the first time, doesn't mean we won't get it. We just need to keep trying!
Thank you for the classroom donations and supplies. Right now I'm all set with Lysol wipes. But can always use soft tissues and wet wipes for quick clean ups.
Please check your child's organizer every night as we write our hw in it everyday and other announcements/news.
Please check out my calendar page for important events coming up!
