We've been learning about synomyms or words that mean the same or almost the same. We also talked about how synonyms make our writing more interesting. On Friday we learned about a special book called a thesaurus and how to use it. Then we partnered up and worked together to make synonym rolls. We will hang these around the classroom for quick reference. As a special treat, when we were finished we got to enjoy cinnamon rolls! I got lots of "thank you's" and even "you're a good chef, Mrs. Frarie!" Ha Ha! So cute!
The first week of school has gone fabulously! Let me introduce you to The Ocean Otters third grade! The class came up with choices for names and we narrowed it down to Ocean Otters.
I am getting to know your children and they are all very sweet! I have so many helpers in here. Lucky me!
This week starts academics. So please check your child's organizer every night. We write our homework in it every night. We started spelling this week too. Please keep the pretests home so you can study a little every night. Spelling tests are on Friday.
Expect a homelink most every night. They are a good way for your child to practice what we learned in class and also gives me an idea on who needs more reinforcement at school
Michaelmas is October 18th. Please start thinking and making your 24+ crafts that your child will sell on that day. More information will be coming.
Please check the calendar tab for important dates.
I hope your summer is going well and you're having tons of fun! I am so excited to see you again in September. The year will be filled with fun and learning. Hopefully, you've been thinking about crafts to make for Michaelmas. If not, that's ok, we'll be brainstorming ideas once school starts.
Attached is an important 2 page document. The first page is a welcome letter with supply list. The second page is an exciting getting to know you activity for you to complete and bring to school on the first day!
See you soon! (and keep reading!)
