What a beautiful weekend! I hope everyone got outside and enjoyed the sunshine.
Thank you for your cooperation with the spelling test on Friday. I think it worked out well. I will be helping the class log onto google classroom this week. Soon there will be some assignments posted there. I want them to get used to checking there for work on days off. I will send home log in information this week. I will try to send home a cover sheet of assignments like I did last week, as well as writing in the organizers. It will be more detailed than the organizers and have optional assignments. Above are some photos of some work we've been doing in class since you can't come in to see it yourselves. One is a continent craft we did and the others are a mask craft we worked on. The book quarantine is just funny how many books they're going through in 2 days. Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Hello everyone,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It sure was beautiful and the Patriots won to boot! Your child is coming home with homework assignments in their organizer. The papers they need are in their homework folders. They also came home with a spelling pretest that we did in class. This stays at home, so they can practice their words for the test on Friday. There is also an important notice to parents. It shows you how your child can log onto the Connected site to access Wonders and Everyday Math. I encourage you to try to log on ASAP. That way if anything goes wrong we can fix it. Everyone was able to log in successfully in class today. I showed the students different parts of each website. The notice also lists important parts of the website for you to visit. There are also 2 games for them to play on the Wonders site to practice their vocabulary and spelling words. These are optional, but encouraged. We had Music today, so that was a nice break in the morning. If you have any questions, please email me. Wow! what amazing students in cohort B! They are so well behaved and are active listeners. They really got along well. We had a competitive game of soccer at morning recess. The boys wanted boys against the girls. The girls agreed. Well, if you could've seen the boys' faces when the girls beat them 8-1! Priceless!
During lunch the boys talked about how the soccer game would be played differently at afternoon recess and how the morning recess game was just a "practice"! Gotta love them! I loved listening to their negotiations. I didn't go out with them for afternoon recess, so you'll have to ask your child the outcome:) Homework is listed in their binder in their organizer. We will write in this whenever we're together. Cohort B assignments for Monday are listed. They need to play the Halloween hundreds game. We went over how to play in class. They will take a spelling pretest and then write their words 2'xs each on the sheet provided. Also, please read for 20 minutes Friday and Monday. (The weekend is good as well!) Thank you, thank you, for all your warm wishes and for making the first week so positive. Your children are amazing and I'm so happy to get to teach them this year!! Deb Frarie Cohort A had an AMAZING first day of school! They were so excited to be here, even though things were a little different. We took some mask breaks and went outside for 2 recesses. We even made some new friends!
Homework for cohort A is to finish their mask self portraits. They are in their homework folders. (We didn't have time to write them in our organizer today). Only one child finished. They need to finish coloring and then write words that describe them around the self-portrait. They also need to read for 20 minutes and gather any supplies that were missing. I hope they come home happy today!! See you on Friday for a Zoom meeting. I will be sending out a link tomorrow. I have been getting some emails on what should cohort B do on Wednesday while cohort A is in school this week.
Here are some suggestions: 1. If you haven't made your "me bag" yet, please work on that so it's ready to bring to school on Thursday. The directions are down below. 2. Make sure you have all your supplies packed for the first day. 3. Watch the protocol videos on the NBCS wesite: https://www.nbcs.k12.nh.us/index.php 4. Choose a book to bring to school for when we have silent reading 5. Finally, if you want, you can write a letter to me telling me about your summer vacation! That's it! Can't wait to see everyone on their first day!! Hello, my wonderful third graders!! I cannot wait to meet you in September!
